Job summary

CHI St. Alexius Health in Bismarck, ND seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for the Surgical Unit (Acute Care). You will assess and plan care for adults recovering from surgery and those with acute conditions requiring surgical intervention, ensuring safe, evidence-based practices.

You will supervise care per policies and the Nurse Practice Act, coordinating with a multidisciplinary team to promote healing and optimal outcomes while maintaining confidentiality and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Nursing degree from an approved school of nursing.
• NEW GRADS WELCOME!
• Active RN license in good standing with ND Board of Nursing or compact state license.
• BLS certification within orientation and recertification as required.
• Strong communication skills with patients, families, and staff.
• Commitment to patient confidentiality and professional conduct.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for adult surgical and acute medical needs.
• Develop and manage post-operative care plans including wound care and pain control.
• Monitor vitals, labs, and patient responses; adjust care as needed.
• Collaborate with surgeons, hospitalists, therapists, and case managers for discharge planning.
• Educate patients and families on recovery, medications, and self-care.
• Document assessments, interventions, and changes per hospital policy.
