Job summary

Advocate Health Care is seeking a dedicated Surgical First/Second Assistant to support complex and routine procedures at our facility. You'll ensure availability of supplies pre-incision, anticipate surgeon needs, and perform validated surgical activities under the surgeon's supervision.

The role includes on-call obligations, on-site scheduling from 0700 to 1530 with days Monday through Friday, and opportunities to train Surgical Technologists and new Surgical Assistants.

Qualifications

• Licenses & Certifications: BLS, CST, NBSTSA/CSFA or CSA within 12 months if required.
• Degrees: Advanced training in Surgical Technology.

Responsibilities

• Function as Surgical First or Second Assistant for complex and basic procedures.
• Ensure supplies are available before incision; anticipate surgeon needs.
• Perform wound closure of deep capsules, muscle, subcutaneous tissue and skin under supervision.
• Position and prep patient on the surgical table.
• Assist in training Surgical Technologists and new Surgical Assistants.
