Advocate Health is seeking a Surgical Assistant to support operating room teams. You will participate in preparatory steps, ensure supplies are ready, and help position and drape patients to maintain a sterile field throughout procedures.

Responsibilities include assisting the surgeon, anticipating needs, and maintaining room safety and efficiency. The role requires advanced training in surgical technology and several years of experience in surgical support.

Competenze

• Advanced knowledge of major operative surgical specialties.
• Proficiency in aseptic preparation of materials and equipment.
• Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and communicate effectively during procedures.
• Experience with wound closure and managing sterile fields.

Mansioni

• Assist in preparatory steps of surgery: gather supplies, open room, assist in lifting and positioning.
• Ensure required supplies are available before incision and align with surgeon preferences.
• Maintain a clean, safe operating room and sterile field using aseptic techniques.
• Set up and operate OR equipment; monitor and report equipment issues.
• Train Surgical Technologists and assistants; participate in department projects.
• Perform validated competencies under surgeon supervision as needed.
