CHRISTUS Health is seeking a Surgical First Assistant to provide intraoperative support and assist the surgeon throughout preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care.

The role requires safe patient positioning, adherence to surgeon preferences, and performance of tasks such as incision, closure, hemostasis, and tissue handling. In addition, the assistant may assist in graft-related procedures and post-op care as directed.

Formación

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Graduation from an accredited Surgical First Assist program or state-approved nursing/tech program.

Responsabilidades

• Meets OneCHRISTUS competencies as a Leader of Self/Others/Leaders.
• Assists the surgeon under direct and indirect supervision through preop, intraop and postop care.
• Safely position the patient per surgeon preference and preop assessment.
• Per surgeon preference: incision, layered closure, exposure, hemostasis, tissue handling and device use.
• Apply dressings, assess skin integrity, assist in patient transfer and recovery.
• May perform vein/graft harvesting or graft preparation under supervision.
• Other duties as delegated by the surgeon in accordance with policy.
