Job summary

AdventHealth in Florida is seeking a skilled Surgical Assistant to support operating room teams with instrument setup, patient care, and aseptic technique. You will assist surgeons during procedures, manage instruments, and help ensure patient safety throughout the case.

The role requires understanding surgeon preferences, strong teamwork, and reliable communication in a fast-paced surgical environment. Training and certifications are valued to maintain high standards of care.

Qualifications

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
• Associate degree preferred
• ABSA/SA-C or equivalent certification [Required]
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification [Required]

Responsibilities

• Set up operating suites using physician preference cards.
• Select surgical equipment based on physician preferences.
• Achieve temporary and permanent hemostasis.
• Assist with body plane closures and wound management.
• Provide visualization for operative sites and assist with instrument handling.
• Maintain aseptic technique and assist with hand scrubs and gowning/gloving.
• Assist with patient positioning and safety during procedures.
