Job summary

Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant seeks a qualified Surgical First Assistant to join the perioperative team. You will assist the surgeon, work with the circulating RN, and handle instruments during operations to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, completion of an accredited Surgical First Assistant training program, and a certification path (CST/TS-C/SA-C/CSA/CSFA/LSA). Experience in the perioperative setting is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have and maintain ONE of the following: CST, TS-C, SA-C, CSA, CSFA, LSA license/certification
• Surgical First Assistant training completed or comparable experience in perioperative settings
• Two years perioperative experience in last four years
• New hires as of 2011 require perioperative experience in either surgical technologist or surgical first assistant role

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon during operative procedures under supervision
• Collaborate with circulating RN and perioperative team to ensure safe operations
• Handle surgical instruments and supplies as required, while maintaining sterile technique
• Follow unit director or designee's direction for task assignments and patient care
