Job summary

Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant is seeking a Surgical First Assistant to join the perioperative team. The role supports the surgeon, works with the circulating RN, and performs both surgical technologist and first assistant duties under supervision.

Candidates should hold an accredited training program with applicable certification options. New hires should have recent perioperative experience; ongoing training and competency assessments will be provided to align with service-line

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Accredited Surgical First Assistant training completion is required.
• Must meet one of the listed certifications (NBSTSA CST, NCCT TS-C, ABSA SA-C, NSAA CSA, NBSTSA CSFA, Texas LSA).
• Experience in perioperative setting preferred; two years in perioperative roles within last four years is noted in the posting.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon under supervision to ensure safe operations.
• Collaborate with circulating RN and perioperative team.
• Handle surgical instruments and assist with instrument flow.
• Perform responsibilities of both Surgical Technologist and Surgical First Assistant as needed.
