DHR Health in Edinburg, TX is seeking a Certified First Assistant for day shifts in the Operating Room. The role provides surgical support under a surgeon’s direction, including exposure, hemostasis, and intraoperative tasks.

Requires CST/CSA/ CFA certification candidates with BLS and strong English communication; hospital on-call expectations apply. Responsibilities include preparing supplies, maintaining the sterile field, assisting with draping, and assisting with harvests for cardiac

Qualifications

• High School/GED required.
• Credentialed by ABSA, LCC-ST or NSAA as a certified first assistant/certified surgical assistant or certified surgical tech; proof of eligibility.
• CST with current certification and two years of first assisting preferred.
• Current BLS certification.
• Must read/write/speak English; good communication skills.
• Flexible with on-call and hospital schedule.

Responsabilités

• Assist surgeon in exposure, hemostasis and intraoperative tasks.
• Maintain sterile field and assist with draping and instrument handling.
• Harvest saphenous vein and radial artery per surgeon’s directive.
• Assist in patient positioning and transfer to ICU or post-procedure area.
• Maintain supplies and assist with back table setup and case carts.
• Provide resuscitation support in cardiac events in OR.
• Ensure compliance with patient safety protocols and time-outs.
