Job summary

CHRISTUS Health seeks a Surgical First Assistant to support the surgeon with exposure, hemostasis, closure and other intraoperative tasks, while ensuring safe operations and optimal patient outcomes. This role includes preoperative and postoperative duties, collaborating with the surgical team under hospital policy.

Schedule is 5 days, 8 hours, full-time on-site. Ideal candidates have a High School Diploma or equivalent, completion of an accredited First Assist Program, BLS, and CST First

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Graduation from an accredited Surgical First Assist Program, State Board accredited Vocational School of Nursing, or Graduate of School of Surgical technology required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgeon under direct and indirect supervision throughout preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative stages.
• Facilitate safe patient positioning per surgeon's preference and patient limits.
• Perform tasks including incision and layered closure, exposure, hemostasis, and handling of devices and drains as directed.
