Responsibilities

• Escalate issues to supervisors as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
• Prepare productivity reports and submit to supervisors within the established timeframe.
• Support the department's customer service and performance improvement goals.

POSITION TITLE: Surgical Estimator

REPORTS TO: Manager Surgical Scheduling and Insurance Verification

DEPARTMENT: Surgical Scheduling

FLSA STATUS: non-exempt

Position Summary=

Responsible for providing patient out of pocket estimates and surgical estimates to elective surgery candidates in advance of procedure.

Job Duties

• Focus on calculating costst and preparing estimates for surgeries.
• Utilize payer websites to determine current patient out of pocket amounts due and utilize various tools to estimate procedure cost and reimbursesment.
• Communicate to patient out of pocket estimates in advance of surgery. Record any communications in the system.
• Escalate any issues and concerns.
• Maintains positive relationships with all customers, employees, physicians, patients, visitors and guests.
• Uses sound customer relation practices and maintains high levels of visibility and accessibility
• Understand various payer reimbursement methodologies
• Document results and alert supervisors or managers of trends.
• Complete productivity reports and submit to supervisors within the established timeframe.
• Support the department's customer service and performance improvement goals.
• Collaborate with other staff to enhance patient care and service.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience And Certification/Licensure Requirements

• H.S. Diploma.
• 4+ years’ experience in a hospital, ASC or physician office setting
• Previous related operational experience
