Job summary

New York Health (NYH) is seeking a Surgical Coordinator (Urology) in Richmond Hill, NY. You will schedule procedures, communicate changes, and coordinate with anesthesia, radiology, and other teams. The role supports patient care through careful scheduling and clearances.

Ideal candidates have 1-3 years of healthcare scheduling experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work with diverse teams. Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus; high attention to detail is essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or higher and 1-3 years in healthcare scheduling.
• Previous insurance/authorization experience is a plus.
• Medical Assistant certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Schedule office and/or hospital procedures per physician recommendation.
• Respond to written and oral scheduling changes/cancellations promptly and accurately.
• Coordinate with the scheduling team to balance procedures and office visits.
• Work with the authorizations department to obtain and monitor procedure authorizations.
• Compile physician schedules and coordinate resources (Anesthesia, Radiology, Equipment).
• Use electronic medical records to document and coordinate care.
• Help patients navigate appointments to obtain proper clearances.
• Maintain relationships with surgical facilities.
• Collect CPT and ICD coding; obtain necessary medical clearances and tests.

Job Description: Surgical Coordinator (Urology)

• Location: Richmond Hill, NY


• Hours: 5/8.5 hr shifts Monday- Friday (between 7am-7pm)


• Organization: New York Health (NYH)


• In this role, you will: \, Schedule office and/or hospital procedures per physician recommendation \, Respond to both written and oral correspondence regarding scheduling changes/cancellations in a timely, accurate manner \, Facilitate appropriate communication with the scheduling team to balance procedures and office visits. \, Work in tandem with the authorizations department to ensure authorizations for procedures are obtained and monitored \, Compile physician schedules and coordinate resources (Anesthesia, Radiology, Equipment, etc.) \, Work with electronic medical records to document and coordinate care effectively \, Help patients navigate through appointments to ensure all proper clearances have been obtained. \, Maintain relationships with various surgical facilities. \, Collect CPT and ICD Coding . \, Obtain necessary medical clearances, blood work, and/or imaging needed for procedure compliance.

• We require:


• Minimum of a High School Diploma (Bachelor’s Degree preferred) and 1-3 years of experience in healthcare scheduling or equivalent combination of education and experience.


• Previous insurance and authorization experience is a plus.


• Medical Assistant certification (a plus)


• Consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills with patients, staff and other healthcare professionals.


• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.


• Bilingual: Spanish/English a plus.
