Job summary

New York Health (NYH) in Riverhead, NY, is seeking a Registered Nurse – Urology to develop individualized care plans and monitor patients during urologic care. This role requires strong nursing assessment and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

You will assist physicians, manage injections and meds, document progress in the EMR, and provide discharge guidance to patients and families. A valid NY RN license and excellent communication are essential.

Job Description

Registered Nurse - Urology

Location: Riverhead / Port Jefferson Station

Hours/Days: 5 8.5 hour shifts Mon-Fri 7am-6pm

Organization: New York Health (NYH)

In This Role, You Will

• Create individualized care plans for patients under your supervision and care.
• Monitor and chart vital signs, weight, and height.
• Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals to share expertise and knowledge
• Assist physician with exams and/or urologic procedures
• Sterilize surgical instruments
• Prepare and administer injections
• Provide supportive resources to the patient and the families to promote a positive outlook.
• Teach patients and the families regarding treatment expectations.
• Watch and record the patient's progress on a constant basis
• Chart the patient's response to treatment and medication.
• Complete MAR after treatment.
• Provide the patient with discharge instructions that are specific to the patient as well as emergency numbers after care.

We Require

• Valid New York State RN License
• Excellent assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with an EMR (preferred)
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer, standing, bending and reaching
• Frequent exposure to chemicals, bloodborne pathogens, and patient bodily fluids.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
• Reliable transportation to travel to NYH locations for patient care needs
