Specialty1 Partners in Hackettstown, NJ is seeking a Surgical Coordinator to join our busy specialty practice. This role ensures every step of the surgery process—from scheduling to post-operative care—is smooth and patient-centered.

You will liaise between patients, surgeons, and insurers, manage surgical schedules, prepare charts, obtain consents, verify coverage, and explain costs. The position supports a fast-paced team and a focus on exceptional patient experience.

Qualifications

• At least 1+ year in a medical or dental office, with surgery coordination preferred.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities across multiple schedules.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with focus on patient care.
• Working knowledge of insurance verification and billing for surgical procedures.
• Proficiency with patient management software and common office applications.
• Understanding HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality.
• Patient-centered and compassionate approach in sensitive situations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures to optimize surgeon time and resources.
• Prepare surgical charts and ensure equipment and supplies are ready for procedures.
• Provide pre- and post-operative instructions to patients and serve as main point of contact.
• Obtain and review surgical consent forms with patients and explain risks.
• Verify insurance coverage, obtain pre-authorizations, and discuss financial responsibilities.
• Present cost estimates and discuss payment options, offering flexible plans when needed.
• Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with HIPAA.
• Monitor inventory of surgical supplies and coordinate with vendors.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure staff readiness for procedures.
• Communicate with referring physicians or dentists regarding patient status.
