Qualifications

• 2+ years of Surgical Coordinator experience in orthopedics or spine.
• Strong knowledge of surgical scheduling, prior authorizations, and insurance verification.
• Familiarity with orthopedic/spine terminology and procedures.
• Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Exceptional organizational and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and patient-facing interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures with hospitals, surgery centers, and teams.
• Obtain prior authorizations and insurance pre-certifications for surgical cases.
• Serve as primary contact for patients during scheduling process.
• Communicate with surgeons, OR staff, and facility personnel to confirm case details.
• Prepare and distribute surgical preference cards, operative reports, and pre-op instructions.
• Verify patient insurance benefits and coordinate financial clearance.
• Maintain accurate patient records in the EMR system.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and surgical protocols are followed.

• Prepare and distribute surgical preference cards, operative reports, and pre‑op instructions
• Verify patient insurance benefits and coordinate financial clearance prior to procedures
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records within the EMR system
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and orthopedic/spine surgical protocols

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Surgical Coordinator, preferably in orthopedics or spine
• Strong knowledge of surgical scheduling, prior authorizations, and insurance verification
• Familiarity with orthopedic and spine surgical terminology and procedures
• Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems and Microsoft Office Suite
• Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail
• Excellent communication and patient‑facing interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a high-volume, fast‑paced clinical environment
• High school diploma or equivalent required; medical or healthcare certification a plus
