Job summary

About the Role:

Hess Spine and Orthopedics LLC in Fairfield, NJ is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Surgical Coordinator to join our growing team. Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures with hospitals, surgical centers, and surgical teams
• Serve as the primary point of contact for patients throughout the pre-operative and post-operative process
• Obtain and verify prior authorizations and insurance pre-certifications for surgical procedures
• Communicate with surgeons, clinical staff, and facility personnel to confirm surgical bookings and requirements
• Prepare and distribute surgical packets, consent forms, and pre-op instructions to patients
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records within the EMR/EHR system
• Follow up on pending authorizations, referrals, and surgical clearances in a timely manner

Requirements:

• Minimum 1-2 years of experience as a Surgical Coordinator or in a similar medical office role
• Knowledge of orthopedic and/or spine surgical procedures and terminology preferred
• Experience with insurance authorizations, pre-certifications, and managed care processes
• Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems and Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient and provider interactions
• Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in healthcare administration a plus
