Texas Oncology, part of the US Oncology Network, is seeking a Surgical Support Coordinator to oversee surgical case coordination and pre-operative processes. The role involves coordinating clearances, imaging, and communications among patients, surgeons, vendors, and facilities.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in medical offices or hospitals, strong knowledge of PMS/EHR systems, and proficiency in MS Office. This is an in-office role with standard weekday hours and strict HIPAA adherence.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 3 years medical office or hospital experience with progressive responsibility.
• Knowledge of PMS and EHR platforms preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Teams, and Excel) required.
• Medical and surgical terminology; knowledge of insurance benefits, eligibility, and authorization procedures.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the continuum of surgical case coordination within department standards.
• Coordinate, schedule, and authorize pre-operative clearance testing and diagnostic imaging as ordered.
• Coordinate surgical cases between patients, co-surgeons, vendors, first assists, and facilities.
• Ensure that reports are captured in the chart.
• Confirm surgical details and pre-appointment instructions with patients.
• Review referrals and authorizations in advance of scheduled procedures to prevent delays.
• Evaluate service costs and perform financial clearance before service delivery.
• Manage physician OR blocks with surgical facilities per policy.
• Document and update patient records in designated systems.
• Provide support to providers to problem-solve administrative issues.
• Maintain HIPAA confidentiality; comply with regulations.
• Other duties as requested or assigned.
