Job summary

Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC, seeks a Clinical Nurse II (RN) to support the Surgical Care Unit. This 12-hour shift role focuses on recovery care for post-operative patients, with responsibilities from assessment to wound care and therapy initiation.

Minimum one year of general surgery/medical patient care experience; NC RN license and BLS required; three 12-hour shifts per week (36 hours), Sundays off, observed holidays.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited BSN or ADN or Nursing Diploma program.
• All RNs without a Bachelor's degree must enroll in a BSN program within two years and complete within five years.
• Must have current or compact RN license in the State of North Carolina.
• BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, provide, supervise and document professional nursing care utilizing the nursing process for patients according to orders and policies.
• Delegate tasks and supervise activities of other licensed and unlicensed care providers.
• Assist other nursing personnel and act as team leader or charge nurse as assigned.
• Monitor and initiate corrective action to maintain the environment of care and resources.
• Participate in own professional development and maintain competencies.
• Act as preceptor and support development of other staff.
• Participate in performance improvement opportunities and activities.
