Job summary

Maryland Oncology Hematology is seeking a skilled Surgery Coordinator to manage pre-surgical scheduling, authorizations, and patient coordination across multiple sites in Maryland and DC.

You will oversee surgical operations, coordinate with physicians, facilities, and payors, ensure documentation in the EMR, and support patients through the pre- and post-operative process with strong communication and multitasking skills.

Qualifications

• Five years of surgical practice/office work experience including insurance authorization and scheduling.
• Knowledge of medical and surgical terminology.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with multitasking ability.
• Proficiency with Outlook, Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee surgery operations and junior staff including scheduling and pre-surgical tasks.
• Coordinate pre-operative appointments and necessary authorizations.
• Collaborate with facilities and vendors on workflows and treatment options.
• Coordinate, schedule and authorize pre-operative clearance testing and imaging.
• Review patient medications and surgical clearance with attention to payor requirements.
• Manage and communicate authorizations for scheduled procedures.
• Ensure surgical reports and related documents are captured in EMR/chart.
