Job summary

Bon Secours Piedmont Orthopaedics - Greenville Specialty Care LLC is seeking a Surgical Assistant to support care for patients undergoing surgery under provider supervision. The role emphasizes learning and professional growth in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities include assisting in the OR, maintaining sterile technique, and collaborating with nurses and surgeons to ensure safe procedures and proper patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required)
• Completion of a Surgical Assistant Program (required)
• Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) or equivalent preferred/required depending on location

Responsibilities

• Performs surgical hand scrub, gowning, and gloving according to policy and assists in the scrub role as assigned.
• Routinely functions as first or second assist on caused cases and helps maintain sterile technique.
• Assists with instrument counts, exchanges, and patient positioning under supervision.
• Ensures patient information confidentiality and follows Universal Protocol for correct site surgery.
• Communicates with the circulating nurse about equipment issues and patient safety.
