Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of a Surgical Assistant Program required.
• One year experience as a Surgical Assistant required.
• Certification as Surgical Assistant (NBSTSA/NSAA/NCCSA) required.
• Virginia Board of Medicine registration required if employed in Virginia.

Responsibilities

• Routinely functions as first assist on complex cases across service lines.
• Maintains sterile technique and assists with instrument counts.
• Protects patient information and participates in universal protocol procedures.
• Assists with patient positioning, prep and draping.
• Prepares supplies and equipment and supports room turnover.
