Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a skilled Surgical Assistant to join our Operating Room team. The role collaborates with surgeons, nurses, and clinical staff, supporting aseptic technique and intraoperative procedures across varying shifts for flexibility and continuity of care.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Surgical Technology or equivalent.
• Certificate of Completion in Surgical Technology.
• Experience in lieu of education accepted.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days.
• Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) or licensed Surgical Assistant.
• Or CST certification.
• 2+ years operating room scrub experience.

Responsibilities

• Applies asepsis principles to maintain a sterile environment.
• Demonstrates competency in technical and psychomotor skills.
• Provides age-specific obstetrical patient care per department policies.
• Assists in organizing supplies and equipment for efficiency.
• Performs scrubbing duties and assists in procedures.
• Assists nurse in planning patient care and room turnover.
• Operates autoclave sterilization units.
