Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a skilled Surgical Assistant to join our Operating Room team in the Norfolk area. The role supports the surgeon, functions as first or second assistant, and works under RN supervision. We offer flexible scheduling with both full-time and part-time options and a $5,000 sign-on bonus.

Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates. Qualified candidates hold an Associate’s Degree or Certificate in Surgical Technology, BLS, and applicable CSA/CST licensure or

Qualifications

• Education in Surgical Technology is required or equivalent experience.
• BLS within 30 days of hire.
• CSA certification or equivalent license as Surgical Assistant.
• Licensed Surgical Assistant within 1 year or CST certification accepted.

Responsibilities

• Maintain sterile environment and asepsis throughout procedures.
• Coordinate supplies and equipment for efficient operations.
• Assist in intraoperative activities and patient care as directed by the surgeon and RN.
• Assist in room turnover and post-procedure tasks.
• Provide instruction and support to medical students and residents as needed.
