Job summary

Carle Health in Arlington, VA is seeking a skilled Surgical Assistant to support the perioperative team. The role supports surgeons as first or second assistant and second circulator under RN supervision.

Flexible shifts with full-time and part-time options, plus a $5,000 sign-on bonus and relocation assistance for eligible candidates. Required qualifications include an Associate’s Degree or Certificate in Surgical Technology, BLS within 30 days, and CSA/CST or licensed status.

Qualifications

• BLS certification within 30 days (AHA)
• CSA or CST certification or licensed Surgical Assistant in state (IDFPR not applicable to VA)
• 2+ years operating room scrub experience

Responsibilities

• Maintains sterile environment using aseptic technique.
• Coordinates supplies and equipment for efficient operation.
• Performs first assisting duties during procedures.
• Assists in room turnover and preps rooms for next case.
• Assists in planning patient care with nursing team.
• Operates autoclave sterilization units as needed.
• Provides education and scrubs for students and residents.
