Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Surgical Assistant to join our Operating Room team in San Antonio, TX. The role supports the surgeon as first or second assistant and works under RN supervision.

We offer flexible shifts and opportunities to advance your perioperative career. Qualified candidates have an Associate’s degree or equivalent in Surgical Technology, BLS, and current certification as CSA or CST (or licensed Surgical Assistant).

Qualifications

• Requires Associate's Degree or Certificate in Surgical Technology
• BLS certification within 30 days
• CSA or CST certification or licensed Surgical Assistant
• Operating room experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Maintains asepsis and sterile environment during procedures.
• Assists in organization and coordination of supplies and equipment.
• Performs intraoperative assisting as needed by the surgeon.
• Operates autoclave sterilization units.
• Supports room turnover and patient care planning.
• Assists in techniques for closure of skin layers.
• Demonstrates knowledge of anatomy and physiology relevant to procedures
