UCI Health is seeking a Scheduling Clerk to manage preoperative and diagnostic scheduling under supervision. You will ensure all paperwork is complete, verify funding coverage, and coordinate with multiple departments and the operating room.

Strong data entry and patient communication are essential. The role requires filing knowledge of ICD9/CPT codes, proficiency in MS Office, and a year of related hospital registration experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year recent experience registering patients in a hospital or clinic, or working as a Medical Assistant, or in medical billing.
• General knowledge of ICD9 and CPT codes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Demonstrated experience using MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Schedule clinic patients for surgery and diagnostic procedures, ensuring all paperwork is completed and forwarded to the proper departments.
• Determine patient funding coverage for proposed procedures and verify documentation supports need.
• Input demographic and financial data into the SMS system and maintain accurate patient records.
• Communicate with patients to obtain demographic data and provide wait time estimates.
• Serve as a liaison between admissions, other departments, and the operating room; notify of reschedules as needed.
