Job summary

Rochester Regional Health in Victor, NY is seeking a Surgery Coordinator to manage scheduling and documentation for surgical procedures. You will coordinate with physicians, patients, facilities, and vendors, handle pre-certifications, and keep the EMR and OR calendar up to date while ensuring accurate billing and patient communication.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, 3+ years of healthcare experience, and strong organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications

Three plus years of relevant healthcare experience preferred.
Strong analytical, computer, organizational, customer service and communication skills.
For transportation departments, knowledge of IDX and CCS is beneficial.

Responsibilities

Coordinate surgery scheduling with physician, patient, facility and vendors as needed.
Obtain surgical procedure and diagnosis codes to authorize/pre-certify surgeries.
Contact billing for pricing for out-of-network and self-pay patients.
Complete pre-certification/authorization with patient insurance and document it.
Enter surgeries in EMR and maintain accurate OR scheduling and dates.
Coordinate pre-op and clearance appointments across departments and PCPs.
Communicate scheduling information and instructions to patients.
Ensure timely arrival times and prep instructions for procedures.
Collaborate with physicians during weekly/quarterly meetings and reviews.
