Job summary

Acuity Eye Group is seeking a Surgery Coordinator to manage patient scheduling for ophthalmic surgeries, coordinate pre-operative prep, and liaise with surgeons and facilities to ensure a smooth patient experience. You will verify demographics and insurance, and navigate Care Cloud EMR for scheduling and records.

Qualifications

• High School education or GED required.
• Experience in Ophthalmology industry preferred.
• Experience in a medical office or customer service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule patients for surgical procedures based on physician recommendation.
• Verify patient demographics, health history, and insurance information.
• Proficient in Care Cloud EMR for scheduling and documentation.
• Act as liaison between patient, surgeons and hospital throughout pre-operative prep.
• Explain need for physical exam, labs, EKG, x-ray and informed consent.
• Answer telephone inquiries from patients and families regarding surgery.
• Follow up with physicians and labs to ensure results are received and sent.
• Maintain professional appearance and demeanor per policies.
• Keep supervisor informed of progress, timetables and issues.
• Maintain clean, cheerful environment for patients.
• Comply with State and Federal regulations including HIPAA and OSHA.
