Job summary

SCA Health, part of Optum, is seeking a Healthcare Office Scheduler in Kahului, Hawaii. The role supports the facility’s business office functions, including scheduling, registration, and insurance verification, to keep the surgery center running smoothly.

You will handle calls from physician offices, coordinate surgeries, perform clerical duties, and ensure timely communication of patient financial policies. A high school diploma is required, with healthcare experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum three years of experience in health care and minimum of one-year experience in surgery scheduling procedures preferred.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
• Flexible with hours and shifts.

Responsibilities

• Schedules surgeries in surgery template with pertinent information and handles calls from physician offices regarding scheduling.
• Answers phone in a pleasant manner and assists physician offices and patients.
• Performs pre-registration and ensures authorization is obtained prior to surgery; completes required paperwork.
• Maintains log for cancelled appointments.
• Performs clerical duties such as photocopying, mailing surveys, preparing patient charts, faxing, and retrieving faxes.
• Maintains clean and orderly surgery scheduling area and verifies all scheduled cases promptly.
• Communicates patient financial responsibility and explains center policies and payment options.
• Documents insurance verification and patient calls in the patient account.
