Job summary

The Surgery Scheduler at Akron Children's Heart Center coordinates scheduling of surgical procedures across operating rooms, physician offices, sedation, and other hospital units. This full-time role requires precise scheduling, clear communication with patients and families, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and EMR systems such as EPIC.

Ideal candidates have at least 3 years of clinical/medical experience and a high school diploma. Onsite position with standard weekday hours.)

Qualifications

• Experience in surgery scheduling is preferred.
• Experience with CPT coding, ICD-9 terminology is preferred.
• Must be detailed oriented with the ability to make decisions and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience working with various levels within an organization is required.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Must be compassionate towards families experiencing stressful conditions.
• Experience in healthcare is preferred.
• Experience working in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required.
• Experience working in an electronic medical record system (i.e. EPIC) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates process to schedule surgical and other procedures in operating room, physician office, sedation, and other hospital units.
• Manages physician schedules to support efficient practice operations.
• Communicates effectively via personal contact, phone and in writing with patients/ families, physicians, hospital staff, community professionals, insurance companies, etc.
• Efficiently and accurately uses computer for generation of reports, letters, forms and other communications/documents.
• Provides administrative support for clinic and educational activities of physicians, nurses or other support staff as directed.
• Other duties as required.
