Job summary

Akron Children's is seeking a full-time Surgery Scheduler to coordinate scheduling for procedures across operating rooms, clinics, and related units. The role involves managing physician calendars, communicating with patients and staff, and producing timely reports and documents.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years in a clinical setting, familiarity with CPT/ICD-9, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and EPIC EMR. Onsite position at the Dental Clinic, Monday–Friday 8am–4:30pm.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Minimum of 3 years experience in a clinical/medical environment preferred.
• Experience in surgery scheduling preferred.
• Familiarity with CPT coding and ICD-9 terminology preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and EPIC EMR is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates process to schedule surgical and other procedures in operating room, physician office, sedation, and other hospital units.
• Manages physician schedules to support efficient practice operations.
• Communicates effectively with patients/families, physicians, hospital staff, and insurance companies in person, by phone, and in writing.
• Efficiently and accurately uses computer for generation of reports, letters, forms and other communications/documents.
• Provides administrative support for clinic and educational activities of physicians, nurses or other support staff as directed.
• Other duties as required.
