Job summary

Knoxville Hospital and Clinics is seeking a Part-Time Surgery Scheduler. The role schedules all surgical procedures, collects required clinical and insurance information, and serves as the first point of contact for patients and families.

This position supports the surgery department with accurate records and smooth workflow. The ideal candidate is an LPN licensed in Iowa with ambulatory or surgery department experience, excellent communication and organizational skills, and proficiency with

Qualifications

• LPN license in Iowa is required.
• Ambulatory or Surgery department experience preferred, clinical experience required.
• Excellent communication, customer service and organizational skills are essential.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
• BLS certification required by end of orientation; mandatory reporter for abuse.
• Experience with electronic medical records (Cerner) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedules all procedures in the surgery department.
• Primary phone receptionist for the surgery department and routes calls appropriately.
• Maintains the daily surgical procedure log.
• Creates patient charts for upcoming surgeries and verifies required documentation.
• Coordinates with providers and clinics to obtain history, clearance, and insurance documents.
• Ensures patient confidentiality and accurate record-keeping.
• Assists other department members and supports patient care as needed.
