Job summary

Tennessee Orthopaedic Alliance in Knoxville, TN is seeking a nonexempt Scheduling Clerk to coordinate procedures with patients, answer questions, and ensure a smooth pre- and post-operative process.

You will schedule, reschedule, and cancel procedures, coordinate with facilities, educate patients about procedures, arrange pre-op clearances, manage paperwork and HIPAA compliant communications, and assist the physician with prep protocols.

Qualifications

• Education: high school diploma.
• Experience: Minimum two years of experience in customer services, with at least six months of experience in health care setting.
• Procedure scheduling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedule, reschedule and cancel all procedure(s).
• Contact area facility for available time for procedure.
• Educate patient on all aspects of the procedure that is scheduled.
• Schedule all pre-op clearance appointments with PCP or specialist.
• Coordinate any and all paperwork needed to facility (Including: complete order sets, H & Ps and imaging).
• Coordinate surgical representative through HIPAA compliant channels.
• Work with physician to keep pre-operative, surgical protocols updated.
• Schedule all initial follow-up appointments from procedure.
• Complete informed consents.
• Call in prescriptions according to MD protocol for procedure.
• Scan/sort all documentation related to completion of duties.
• Other duties as assigned.
