Job summary

New Mexico Orthopaedics is seeking a Medical Scheduling Specialist to act as a liaison among patients, providers, medical assistants, and scheduling departments for ordered surgical procedures. You will review procedures with Pre-certification and Coding teams to ensure accuracy and billability.

The role involves scheduling and coordinating pre-op and post-op appointments, discussing clearances with patients, and providing instructions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Medical scheduling experience preferred.
• HIPAA knowledge and patient confidentiality awareness.

Responsibilities

• Serve as liaison among patients, providers, medical staff, and scheduling departments for surgeries.
• Review procedures and coordinate pre-certification with coding and pre-certification teams.
• Schedule, coordinate, and reschedule surgical appointments; confirm authorizations and benefits.
• Provide pre- and post-operative instructions and verify patient readiness.
• Answer calls, update records, and maintain accurate charting and messaging.
• Maintain high integrity and professional communication with staff and patients.
