Job summary

New Mexico Orthopaedics in Albuquerque is seeking a Surgery Scheduling Coordinator to coordinate and schedule patient surgical appointments per protocol, collaborating with patients, providers, clinic staff, and hospital staff.

The role includes working with the Pre-certification and Coding teams to ensure accuracy and billing, managing calendars, and providing pre- and post-operative instructions while maintaining HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with two years of relevant experience.
• Experience in medical scheduling or pre-verification preferable.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work with multiple departments and maintain HIPAA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Act as liaison between patients, providers, MAs, hospital OR scheduling and surgery center OR scheduling.
• Review ordered procedures with Pre-certification and Coding teams for accuracy and billability.
• Schedule, coordinate and reschedule surgical appointments per policy.
• Provide pre- and post-operative instructions to patients.
• Maintain patient records and authorize verifications as needed.
