Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Medical Terminology.
• Three (3) years' experience scheduling in a physician office or surgical services.
• Three (3) years' experience as a Medical Assistant with demonstrated procedural or prior authorization experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedules patients for surgery/procedure and pre-operative appointments.
• Coordinate scheduling with hospital and Pre-admission testing department.
• Maintain physician schedules and adjust for cancellations.
• Arrange patient order per physician preferences and prioritize priority cases.
• Scan procedure sheets into Epic.
• Communicate with insurance to obtain authorization; enter into EPIC and forward to precertification.
• Notify OR, labs and scheduling of special equipment; coordinate with reps.
• Ensure testing orders and required clearances; scan results into Epic.
• Answer and return calls to patients, insurers, pre-admission testing, surgical/central scheduling, and physicians.
• Assist cath, EP, IR labs and OR in coordinating cases.
