Job summary

Princeton Orthopaedic Associates (POA), part of OrthoNJ, is seeking a Surgery Scheduler to anchor patient preparation for surgery, coordinating timelines with physicians and facilities while keeping patients informed and reassured throughout the process.

The role requires strong organizational skills and compassionate communication to manage surgical timelines, verify insurance, and document in the EHR across multiple locations in Central New Jersey.

Qualifications

• At least 2–3 years of experience in a medical scheduling role, orthopaedics preferred.
• Familiarity with medical billing and coding practices is desirable.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and phone systems is essential.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate surgical procedures with physicians, patients, and surgical facilities.
• Maintain and manage surgical schedules, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Communicate surgical instructions, preparation details, and post-op requirements to patients.
• Verify insurance coverage, eligibility, and benefits for surgical services.
• Serve as the primary point of contact between patients, surgeons, and operating facilities.
• Track surgical authorizations and collaborate with the authorization team to ensure compliance.
• Maintain accurate patient and surgical documentation within the electronic health record (EHR).
• Resolve scheduling conflicts or delays and escalate issues as needed.
• Perform additional projects and duties as assigned by management.
