Job summary

Westgate Surgery Center in Glendale, AZ is seeking a Surgery Scheduler to coordinate and schedule procedures while delivering excellent service to patients, physicians, and staff. You will manage scheduling from initial booking through day of surgery, verify demographics, insurance, and authorizations, and keep EMR records accurate.

The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and clear communication with the surgical team to ensure efficient, high-quality ambulatory care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Healthcare scheduling experience preferred.
• Familiarity with insurance verification and prior authorizations preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and confidentiality.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Proficient computer and EMR usage.

Responsibilities

• Schedule surgical procedures per physician, patient, facility, and OR availability.
• Coordinate surgery dates with physicians’ offices, patients, and staff.
• Obtain and verify patient demographics, insurance, and surgical information.
• Coordinate pre-operative testing and medical clearances as appropriate.
• Verify benefits and assist with obtaining authorizations and referrals.
• Ensure cases are entered accurately into the scheduling system and EMR.
• Communicate pre-operative instructions to patients and offices.
• Manage changes, cancellations, and rescheduling of procedures.
• Maintain timely documentation and HIPAA compliance.
