Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Approximately 2 years of medical clerical experience; preferably in central scheduling.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of payor contract terms and processes.
• Excellent organizational, human relations and communication skills.
• Experience with word processing, spreadsheets, and scheduling systems.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate case times for elective, urgent, or emergent surgeries using a computerized scheduling system.
• Enter patient charges, orders, and other pertinent information; compile and report statistics.
• Act as receptionist for the unit; greet patients and families and relay information to staff and physicians.
• Maintain confidentiality and work under time pressure to ensure smooth workflow.
