Job summary

Florida Springs Surgery Center in Florida is seeking a full-time Surgery Scheduler to manage daily surgery scheduling across OR and related facilities. The role emphasizes coordinating with physicians, anesthesia groups, and office staff to ensure smooth patient flow and accurate information handling.

The candidate should have strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills, with a background in healthcare and scheduling.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum three years’ experience in health care.
• Minimum one year experience in surgery scheduling preferred.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team; handle stress.
• General familiarity with medical terminology as it pertains to anatomy and surgical procedures for an operating room.

Responsibilities

• Schedules patient procedures to ensure efficient and accurate processing of information across OR, GI lab, and other settings.
• Coordinates with anesthesia groups to confirm scheduling for coverage.
• Set post-surgical appointments with doctors and perform all necessary tests.
• Inform patients and relevant parties about pre- and post-surgery instructions.
• Receive medical records and histories from patients.
• Reserve surgery dates based on surgeon availability and patient condition.
• Order test results and assess readiness for surgery.
• Create daily surgery schedule and surgical log for all departments.
• Provide information and updates regarding patients’ surgery schedules.
• Verify insurance and authorization.
• Foster positive relationships with schedulers, physicians and nursing staff.
