Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Schedules patient procedures to ensure efficient and accurate processing of information across OR, GI lab, and other settings.
  • Coordinates with anesthesia groups to confirm scheduling for coverage.
  • Set post-surgical appointments with doctors and perform all necessary tests.
  • Inform patients and relevant parties about pre- and post-surgery instructions.
  • Receive medical records and histories from patients.
  • Reserve surgery dates based on surgeon availability and patient condition.
  • Order test results and assess readiness for surgery.
  • Create daily surgery schedule and surgical log for all departments.
  • Provide information and updates regarding patients’ surgery schedules.
  • Verify insurance and authorization.
  • Foster positive relationships with schedulers, physicians and nursing staff.

Florida Springs Surgery Center is hiring a full time Surgery Scheduler

Florida Springs Surgery Center is a multi-specialty ambulatory surgery center conveniently located off of US Highway 19 on the west coast of Florida.

Our specialties include: Orthopedic Surgery, Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery, Sports Medicine, Total Joint Replacement, Hand and Upper Extremity & Neurosurgery

Position Overview

The surgery scheduler is responsible for daily maintenance of the surgery schedule and all aspects of the scheduling process. This includes strategizing and problem solving and ensuring high levels of customer service with scheduling coordinators from all doctors' offices and operating room staff. Successful candidate will possess outstanding leadership, communication and customer service skills as well as the ability to diffuse difficult scheduling conflicts efficiently with strategy. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate previous successful/positive customer service encounters or programs.

Duties
  • Schedules patient procedures to ensure efficient and accurate processing of information. This includes procedures in the operating room, GI lab, and arrangements during the procedure.
  • Coordinates with anesthesia groups to confirm scheduling for coverage.
  • Set post-surgical appointments with doctors and perform all necessary tests
  • Inform patients and any relevant third party through instructions about “things to do” before and after surgeries
  • Receive all needed medical records and history from patients
  • Take reservations for surgeries and schedule a date based on the availability of the surgeon and the medical condition of patients
  • Order patients’ test results and assess information from the report to determine if a patient is ready for surgery
  • Create a daily surgery schedule and surgical log for all departments concerned
  • Provide information and updates in regards to patients’ surgery schedules
  • Verify insurance and authorization
  • Promote positive relationships with scheduling coordinators, physicians and nursing staff members throughout the scheduling process.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum three years’ experience in health care and minimum of one year experience in surgery scheduling procedures preferred.
  • Ability to work independently as well as function within a team; have a basic knowledge of surgery scheduling, receptionist and registration responsibilities; and must possess the ability to handle stress.
  • General familiarity with medical terminology as it pertains to anatomy and surgical procedures for an operating room.
