Magee - Women’s Hospital of UPMC is hiring a Full Time Surgery Scheduler to support the Uro Gynecology Hospital Clinic. The role works daylight hours with hybrid shifts, offering excellent benefits and a pleasant team environment.

You will coordinate in-patient and outpatient surgeries, assist the surgeon and admin, verify demographics/insurance, obtain pre-certifications, and communicate with patients and hospital staff. Medical assisting experience and EPIC knowledge are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of a medical assisting program or 2–4 years in a medical field.
• Proficiency in medical terminology preferred.
• Knowledge of Epic practice management software preferred.

Responsabilités

• Coordinate and schedule in-patient and outpatient surgical procedures.
• Assist surgeon and administrator in operations.
• Prepare admission reservations and verify demographics/insurance information.
• Coordinate cases and obtain hospital admission approvals.
• Discuss and collect pre-payments and financial arrangements.
• Ensure informed consents are signed.
• Provide patients with pre and postoperative instruction.
• Coordinate patient education seminars and schedules physicians accordingly.
• Collect data for research studies.
• Schedule pre-screening exams and post-operative appointments.
• Ensure billing and insurance information is current and accurate.
• Complete special projects as assigned.
• Act as liaison between patient and referring physicians.
• Obtain pre-certification and/or referral prior to the date of the procedure.
• Coordinate internal and external marketing efforts.
• Attend and schedule department meetings.
• Answer inquiries regarding surgery and provide educational materials.
