Job summary

Georgia Eye Institute Surgery Center in Savannah seeks a Surgery Scheduler to schedule patient procedures and maintain the operating room calendar. You will coordinate with physicians, coding staff, and anesthesia to ensure efficient daily scheduling and accurate documentation.

The role requires at least 1 year in a medical office setting and experience coordinating surgical procedures in hospital or ambulatory settings. This is an on-site position with the Georgia Eye Institute.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of experience in a medical office setting.
• Experience scheduling surgical procedures in either a hospital or ambulatory surgery setting.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patient surgical procedures and maintain the surgery schedule.
• Obtain CPT and ICD-10 diagnosis codes and other clinical information as required by the physician’s office.
• Prepare documentation for Notification of Non-covered Medicare Services or Advance Beneficiary notices to patients and notify physician’s offices about these procedures.
• Complete chart requests from Medical Records and notify the Materials Manager/Nurse Manager of any physician requests or special equipment needed for upcoming surgeries.
• Determine the duration needed for surgeries in the operating room and work with OR nurse to ensure a daily schedule is streamlined.
• Maintain the center block schedule list and arrange necessary anesthesia coverage.
• Call/fax physician’s offices to notify them of any open schedule times that may allow for additional cases to be taken at the center.
