Job summary

University of California - San Diego Medical Centers is seeking a clinical coordinator to provide chief administrative and clinical support for the surgical practice in San Diego. The role schedules surgical procedures, coordinates authorizations, and communicates times and locations to patients and families.

The incumbent manages EPIC entries, supports surgeons and nurses, and ensures timely patient flow across operating rooms and pre-op clinics.

Qualifications

Three years of experience with scheduling and authorization in a hospital setting.
Three or more years of recent surgery scheduling experience, particularly Spine scheduling.
Six months to one year orthopedic experience.
Knowledge of third-party payors including federal, state and private health plans.
Excellent communication skills and customer service.

Responsibilities

Coordinate scheduling for surgeries and ensure logistics across operating rooms, schedulers, pre-op clinics, anesthesia, and admissions.
Obtain authorizations for surgery-related orders and communicate times and locations to patients and families.
Enter and manage patient information in EPIC and distribute notes to referring physicians and medical records.
Provide clinical administrative support and coverage for other schedulers as needed to ensure smooth clinic operations.
Assist in clinic process improvements and work collaboratively in a team environment.
