Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a Patient Care Technician for the Surgery unit. The role supports adult surgical patients post-op across multiple procedures, with 36 hours per week on a rotating weekend schedule.

You will assist with daily living activities, vital signs, mobility, phlebotomy, EKG testing, and specimen collection under RN supervision. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and relevant certification; BLS within 90 days of hire is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; multiple certification options listed.
• Healthcare experience or active clinical program enrollment preferred.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• Previous PCT/Nursing Assistant experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist activities of daily living.
• Record vital signs and report changes to RN.
• Assist with mobility, ambulation, and IV/ Foley procedures.
• Perform phlebotomy, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing.
• Observe patient conditions and document accurately.
