Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Medicine Unit. This is a full-time night shift (12-hour shifts) with rotating weekends and holidays.

The role covers patient care, vital signs, mobility, phlebotomy, EKG testing, IV care, and Foley catheter management under the supervision of an RN. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and accepted certifications or clinical experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required and one of the listed certifications or relevant experience.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
• Experience in health care is preferred (1 year).
• Multiple CNA/NCA/NCPCT/NCMA/Navy corps school or clinical program pathways accepted.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and support activities of daily living.
• Perform phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, and EKG testing.
• Observe patient condition and document changes for RN review.
