Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA is hiring a Patient Care Technician for the Transitional Care Unit. This is a full-time night shift (12-hour shifts) from 7PM to 7AM with rotating weekends.

The role involves direct patient care, monitoring vitals, mobility, phlebotomy, EKGs, specimen collection and catheter care, under RN supervision. BLS within 90 days and healthcare experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required with one of the listed health credentials.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
• One year of health care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Monitor vital signs, mobility, and ambulation.
• Perform phlebotomy, point-of-care testing and EKGs.
• Remove peripheral IVs, collect specimens, and manage Foley catheters.
• Document observations and report changes to the RN/medical staff.
