Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance seeks a technical engineer to perform engineering and construction analyses of large performance, payment and non-contract surety bond disputes and claims. You will assist Surety/SDI Claims and Underwriting in achieving unit objectives, including audits and administrative work, and prepare technical reports evaluating loss exposures.

Responsibilities include site inspections, evaluating plans, expert reports, costs-to-complete analyses, and coordinating with consultants.

Qualifications

• BA/BS Degree in engineering or related field required with substantial experience in surety claims or construction management.
• Minimum 3–5 years of construction management experience and 5–7 years of proven surety claims management preferred.
• Ability to reduce complex analyses into clear prose for claims handling or training.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical engineering and construction analyses for large surety disputes and claims.
• Prepare technical reports and evaluate loss exposures for the surety.
• Instruct and coordinate consultants and prepare exam reports.
• Assist in pre-trial preparation, mediation, arbitration, and other dispute resolution.
• Advise underwriting on key findings and review bid spreads with oversight.
