Job summary

Liberty Mutual Surety leads technical engineering and construction analyses for large performance, payment and non-contract bond disputes and claims. The role directs teams of consultants and contractors to coordinate resolution and supports underwriting objectives.

The candidate will evaluate internal controls, prepare expert reports, and assist trial counsel on technical matters, including pre-trial and arbitration support, while aligning with audit and corporate procedures.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in engineering or related field with minimum 7 years progressively more responsible surety claims or construction management experience.
• 3–5 years construction management experience required and 5–7 years of proven surety claims management preferred.
• Proven analytical ability to evaluate and judge claim files.
• Ability to distill complex analyses into clear reports and directives for claims handling.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical analyses of large and complex performance, payment and non-contract surety disputes and claims, with oversight by managers.
• Prepare technical reports and evaluate loss exposures; supervise consultants and coordinate investigations.
• Advise trial counsel on engineering and construction management issues; assist in pre-trial, mediation and arbitration as appropriate.
• Coordinate with Surety Counsel and underwriting; support internal audit programs and ensure policy adherence.
