Job summary

Intact Insurance Specialty Solutions is seeking an Engineering Consultant for its Surety Claims team with hybrid work options across NYC, Blue Bell, Chicago or Southfield. You will guide complex construction projects, advise on claims, prepare scopes and cost estimates, and coordinate with underwriting and outside consultants.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering, a licensed professional, and 7+ years in engineering or construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• Licensed Engineer.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in an engineering consulting firm or relevant construction experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
• Demonstrated analytical, decision making and organizational skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and related software.

Responsibilities

• Advise and support claims handlers on surety claim files.
• Prepare proposals, scopes of work, and cost estimates.
• Monitor progress, invoicing, close-out activities, and corrective actions.
• Oversee contractors to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
• Conduct site visits and audits with claim handlers.
• Identify issues and contribute practical solutions to delays and costs.
• Review project requirements and support underwriting as needed.
• Lead or participate in site meetings and status reporting.
• Interact with outside counsel and consultants; develop relationships nationwide.
