Job summary

Jobtailor in Tennessee is seeking an Underwriting Assistant to handle day-to-day surety bond processing, data entry, underwriter support, rating scenarios, and error-free work.

You will develop strong relationships with underwriters, agencies, and clients, manage internal reports, coordinate with teams, and apply knowledge of filed rates and line cards while collaborating across the Surety UW Center. A detail-oriented, proactive communicator who can juggle priorities will thrive in this role.

Qualifications

• Preferred 3–5 years of experience as a Technical Assistant or Underwriting Assistant performing similar responsibilities.
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication abilities across email, phone, and in-person interactions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Edge/Chrome, and Nitro Pro or Adobe.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively with team members.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Demonstrated planning and organizational skills.
• Eagerness to learn, positive attitude, and willingness to take on new opportunities and responsibilities as assigned by Underwriters or Leadership.

Responsibilities

• Handle day-to-day processing and management of surety bonds
• Process surety business through data entry, Underwriter support, understanding rating scenarios, and producing error-free work
• Develop working relationships with underwriters and act as the first point of contact for service inquiries
• Maintain relationships with agencies and clients
• Apply knowledge of filed rates, minimum premium, rater, and line cards
• Manage internal reports, including monthly renewal, status reports, data cleanup projects, submission-under-review, and quoted-status reports
• Support the Surety UW Center team, including other Underwriting Assistants, account management, bond forms, and collections
• Collaborate with underwriters, agencies, clients, and Surety teams
